And might not a vendor of sheeps trotters have been satisfied, without a laundress becoming a burden to the State?

ONE:My occupation is to cultivate philosophy in peace, and so to satisfy my three strongest passions, the love, that is, of literary fame, the love of liberty, and pity for the ills of mankind, slaves of so many errors.
